What we do with your data, in plain sight.

Every piece of personal data Intervue handles, why we need it, which companies touch it, and when it is deleted.

01

Who we are and what this covers

Intervue is a hiring tool built and run from Accra, Ghana. Recruiters use it to send structured video interviews to candidates. This policy explains what personal data Intervue handles, why, who else touches it, and how long it stays.

There are two roles. For recruiter accounts (the people who sign up and pay), we decide how the data is used, so we are the controller. For candidate interviews, the company that invited the candidate decides to run the interview and what to do with the result, so that company is the controller and Intervue processes the data for them.

02

What we collect

From recruiters

Account
Name, email address, organisation name, and a password that we store only as a one-way hash.
Billing
Plan, interview credits, and a record of each payment: reference, amount and status. Card and mobile money details are handled by Paystack. We never see them.
API keys
The name you give a key and a hash of the key. The key itself is shown to you once.
Activity
Interviews you create, the questions, the scoring criteria, candidates you invite and the decisions you make (for example marking a flag as a false alarm, or approving a held ID check).

From candidates

Identity details
Name and email address the recruiter entered, an optional phone number and an optional reference code.
Recording
Video and audio of the interview, the spoken answers as a transcript, and AI scores with the quotes that support them.
Monitoring signals
Tab switches and time away, how long the candidate looked away from the screen, whether a face was present or more than one face appeared, a phone or laptop in the camera view, more than one voice, whether the face proportions change after a second face or a gap in view, window resizing, and loss of camera or microphone.
ID check results
If the recruiter turns the ID check on: whether it passed, went to review or failed, the outcome of each check, the name read from the ID card, and face-comparison values. The identity provider takes the ID scan and selfie.
Setup and feedback
How the camera and gaze set-up went, and the optional rating and comment a candidate leaves after finishing.
03

How we use it

  • To run the interview: show questions, record answers, save progress so a dropped connection can resume.
  • To transcribe answers and score them against the criteria the recruiter chose.
  • To measure integrity signals and, if switched on, to check the candidate's ID and match the name on it to the name that was invited.
  • To email the recruiter and the candidate about the interview, and to email account owners about changes to their account.
  • To take payment, keep the service secure, and prevent abuse.
  • To learn which checks are noisy. When a recruiter marks a flag as correct or a false alarm, that note is used only to improve the checks. It never changes a score.

We do not sell personal data. We do not show advertising. We do not train AI models on candidate recordings or transcripts.

04

Automated results and human decisions

AI transcribes and scores answers, and a rule-based formula produces the integrity score. These are inputs for the recruiter. The integrity score is calculated only from measured events and never looks at what the candidate said.

Integrity flags never reject a candidate. The one automatic stop is optional: a recruiter can choose, per interview, to block a candidate after three failed ID checks. Otherwise a person decides, and recruiters must treat the results as evidence, not as a verdict.

05

Who else handles the data

We use the following providers to run Intervue. Each receives only what its job needs.

Amazon Web Services
storageStores recordings. speechTurns interview questions into spoken audio (Polly).
Groq
Transcribes answers and writes or scores text with language models.
Google (Gemini)
Backup for transcription and for language-model tasks if the first provider fails.
OpenAI
Further backup for language-model tasks.
VeriKit
Runs the optional ID check: the ID scan, the selfie and the comparison. Returns the result to us.
Paystack
Takes payment in Ghana cedis.
Email provider
Sends invitations and notices.
Hosting provider
Runs the application and its database.

We also share data when the law requires it, and with the recruiter's organisation, who can see the interviews and candidates in their workspace.

06

What happens in the candidate's browser

Face, gaze and object detection run inside the candidate's browser. The detection models are downloaded from public content networks (jsDelivr, esm.sh and Google's model storage), so the browser contacts those hosts, along with Google Fonts for typefaces. What is sent to Intervue is the recording and the resulting events and counts.

07

How long we keep it

Interview video
Deleted after 14, 30 or 90 days, depending on the recruiter's plan. Plans with a custom storage period follow what was agreed.
Transcript, scores, flags
Kept on the candidate's record after the video is gone, until the recruiter's organisation or we are asked to delete them.
Account data
While the account is open. On request we delete it, except what we must keep for legal or accounting reasons.
Payment records
As long as the law requires us to keep them.
Candidate links
Each candidate link expires on the date the recruiter sets.

Copies in backups may remain for a short time after deletion.

08

Where the data goes

Our providers run services in several countries, so personal data may be processed outside Ghana. We choose providers that protect data in transit and at rest and we share only what each needs.

09

Your rights

Under the Data Protection Act, 2012 (Act 843) you can ask what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, object to how it is used, and ask for it to be deleted.

Candidates: start with the company that invited you, since they decide what happens to your interview. You can also write to us and we will pass the request on or act on it where we can. Recruiters: write to us from the email on your account. We aim to answer within 30 days.

If you are unhappy with our answer you can complain to Ghana's Data Protection Commission.

10

Cookies

We use only the cookies the service needs to work: one that keeps you signed in and one that protects forms from forged requests. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies, and we do not run third-party analytics on these pages.

11

Children

Intervue is for recruiters and for candidates applying for work. It is not meant for anyone under 18.

12

Changes and contact

If we change this policy in a way that matters, we will say so on this page and email account owners. The date at the top shows the latest version. Write to us at hello@intervue.ai.
